Curated by Damian Smith, CHINESE CERAMICS THROUGH THE AGES, was held in 2008, at the Maroondah Art Gallery, Melbourne. It featured a range of Chinese ceramics held in private collections, and included selected pieces from the Neolithic period (circa 5,000 B.C.E. - 3,000 B.C.E.) to the Ch'ing Dynasty (1644 C.E. - 1912 C.E), focusing in particular on export and trade ceramics. Items from several well-known shipwrecks were included. The exhibition was a highlight of the Public Galleries Association of Victoria's 'Get into Art' Open Day program, and featured a free public talk by renowned ceramics expert Marjorie Ho. The exhibition was supported by East & West Art, Melbourne and China Art Projects, Beijing. To read the exhibition essay click here.
